Marching Mutts is proud to announce that we are now accepting credit (and debit) cards from all of our Hoboken, Jersey City, Edgewater, Weehawken, Fort Lee, North Bergen, and Leonia customers! In fact, we will actually be requiring credit card payment for all new “ad-hoc” clients as this makes billing and record keeping for both our staff and our customers many times easier! Daily clients will have the to pay via monthly invoice or credit card.

This is just another example of how Marching Mutts strives to stay ahead of technology in order to provide it’s customers with the most high-touch and hassle-free dog walking, cat sitting, and pet concierge services in the NJ Gold Coast area!

Halle NalaNew to the states, meet the UK’s beautiful ladies Halle & Nala. While marching these stunning girls through Hoboken, many a times they are mistaken for either royalty or super models that could have easily walked off the runways from Fashion Week. You may think they are just another pretty face (yawn), but be on your toes because they are a force to wrecken with! Halle (the Doberman) will defend any pedestrian that approaches her marcher friend or faux, they are an enemy until proven innocent in her eyes. As for Nala, she is quite the gentle little giant but if there are snipers dressed in cute little squirrel outfits let’s hope you have your running shoes on because you don’t stand a chance with this special forces leader.

So, let’s put our hands (I mean paws) together and congratulate Halle & Nala for earning Mutt(s) of the Month! WE SALUTE YOU!

Mutt of the Month July

July 26th, 2010

Westies This month’s award is a bit unique. Typically we select only one fine pup but in this situation how can you possibly choose only one winner?! Meet Callie, Sandy, and Orangie, three Westies who reside in Leonia, New Jersey. Although their cute, fluffy, angelic faces look sweet and innocent, beware because here at Marching Mutts headquarters we think these three are seasoned veterans! Callie is the mommy and she will do anything to protect her babies. Sandy is the only male and he patrols the perimeter of his Leonia household. He’s also a decorated veteran in agility class! And don’t forget Orangie who may look like the typical Westie teenager you’d find shopping in SoHo, but we think she may be pulling double duty as an interrogation officer based on how she looks civilians up and down on the streets of her home town.

So, let’s put our hands (I mean paws) together and congratulate Callie, Sandy, and Orangie for earning July’s Mutt(s) of the Month! WE SALUTE YOU!

You need look no further than Lucky’s Bed and Biscuit! Located in Manahawkin, NJ and just 10 minutes from popular vacation destination Long Beach Island, Lucky’s is luxury for your pets. When we headed down last weekend, our keys for the rental home weren’t available until 2pm… BUT, we wanted to leave really early in the morning to beat the beach traffic. No big deal right? Just plop yourself down on the beach for four or five hours and get a great start on that tan. WRONG. Not when you have a Boston Terrier and a French Bulldog with you. These breeds can barely last five minutes in the heat let alone five hours! Thanks to Lucky’s, we were able to drop our furry friends off for a few hours of fun and pampering while we got started on our vacation.

Lucky’s is incredibly clean and the staff are both friendly and knowledgeable. We got a full tour of the facility, which includes canine VIP suites equipped with observation cameras, a sizable outdoor run, a full pet items store with everything known to man, and, I KID YOU NOT – a REAL in-ground pool for dogs! To top it all off, Lucky’s has a room service menu that you can call in to order for your pets from! Rest assured that numerous peanut butter-based concoctions are on the menu. Sydney and Sully had a great time at Lucky’s and we highly recommend the establishment! www.luckysbb.com

Wow! is all I can say. Just had to share some insights on one of our favorite area restaurants. La Vecchia Napoli is located on the corner of River Road and Hilliard avenue in Edgewater, NJ. It’s nothing very special from the outside, but on the inside, magic is always happening. After a long day of dog walking and cat sitting, this is one of our favorite places to unwind. The atmosphere is homey, traditional, Italian and the staff is friendly and accommodating. On most nights they even have a live violinist… This is a really romantic date spot, and the food is truly top-notch. We have literally been here at least twenty times since moving to the area two years ago. And, one of the best things about La Vecchia Napoli is the fact that its cheap! Not just inexpensive, but actually CHEAP! This is one of the few GOOD sit-down restaurants I know of in the Gold Coast area where a couple can still have a nice meal for fifty bucks!

The free bruschetta is the best I have EVER had, and the home-made deserts are to die for. We also highly recommend the cheese platter, the bronzino, the pollo solsiccio y fungi, and pretty much every other dish we have ever tried! Seriously, do yourselves all a favor and check this place out – it’s a true diamond in the rough right in our own backyard!

Fellow dog owners – please submit your favorite dog parks and runs in the North Bergen, Edgewater, Fort Lee, Leonia, Weehawken, Hoboken, and Jersey City areas to Marching Mutts. We are working on putting together a really cool directory of local dog parks complete with photos that our dog walking and pet sitting clients can take advantage of!

Simply email the specifics on your pet’s favorite hangout to info@marchingmutts.com

Also, what do you think makes for a great dog park? Size? Surface? Separate areas for large and small dogs?

Marching Mutts is seeking input from area pet owners to create a ranked list!

On Thursday June 24th, our dog walking and pet sitting business hosted its first fund-raising event at City Bistro in Hoboken, New Jersey. The event was attended by about forty of our clients from Jersey City, Hoboken, Edgewater, and Fort Lee, in addition to our entire dog walking and pet sitting staff. The event was a great opportunity for clients, Marching Mutts employees, and other pet lovers to network and mingle. Together, Marching Mutts and City Bistro were able to raise around $1,400 for the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City, New Jersey. This money will obviously go to a great cause, and the needy shelter dogs and cats definitely thank all who attended for their donations and time!

For those of you who haven’t checked out City Bistro recently, it’s well worth the visit. Not only is the food and atmosphere top-notch, but the rooftop has great views and provides an open-air environment that is unmatched in the Hoboken area. The staff is friendly, the drinks are affordable, and the crowd is great. Marching Mutts highly recommends!

Stay tuned for our next fundraising endeavor, and in the mean time, make sure to call us for all your dog walking and pet sitting needs!

Mutt of the Month

April 18th, 2010

Please welcome Marching Mutt’s newest recruit – Captain Sully!

Sully was recently sprung from a local pet shop after months of “captivity” where her favorite playmate was a 30-lb tortoise.

This personality-rich French Bulldog was named after Captain Chesley Sullenberger, who you may remember safely landed imperiled US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in January 2009. Our own Captain Sully hasn’t saved any lives yet, but she has definitely created quite a few good laughs.

Sully is currently nine months old and is learning every day from her older sister Sergeant Sydney about life in Edgewater, NJ. Her favorite pastimes are currently snorting, chewing her own feet, and getting incredibly jealous when anyone else in the house receives attention. Obviously Sully is still in basic training.
